Our AI-focused research spans subjects from machine learning to natural language processing, computer vision and ethical AI, tackling some of the most pressing challenges of our time. With a strong focus on responsible AI development, we will continue to work alongside industry leaders, government agencies and academic peers to ensure our discoveries make a meaningful impact.

Generative Technology and Intelligent Systems
At SJSU, our research delves into the next frontier of AI, exploring several technologies and learning models as well as intelligent conversational agents. Our labs, including the Circuits, Robotics, and Artificial Intelligence Lab, and the Intelligent Conversational Agents and Neural Networks Lab, are dedicated to advancing machine intelligence and complex systems.

Center for Artificial Intelligence and Cybersecurity (CAIC)
San José State University's Silicon Valley Center for Artificial Intelligence and Cybersecurity (CAIC) stands as a pivotal institution at the intersection of academia and industry, committed to excellence in the realms of artificial intelligence, big data, and cybersecurity. Established in 2014, the CAIC leverages multidisciplinary collaboration, engaging nearly 20 full-time and adjunct faculty members from across the university.
SJSU has received the National Centers of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense (CAE-CD) designation through 2029. This designation highlights SJSU's commitment to providing rigorous, cutting-edge cybersecurity education that prepares students for successful careers and supports national priorities. The Silicon Valley CAIC provides the foundation for this designation.

Ethics and Responsible AI
We prioritize ethical considerations in AI development. SJSU is home to the King Library Digital Humanities Center and the SJSU Center on Ethics. The College of Humanities & the Arts has also recently launched the Advanced Institute for Ethical Technologies (AI-ET). We are committed to exploring the ethical implications of AI technologies, fostering a balanced approach to innovation.
