Masters of Science in Artificial Intelligence
The MS in Artificial Intelligence program provides students with a state-of-the-art educational experience to become outstanding, socially responsible engineers of AI systems. Students will learn the theoretical foundations and gain practical skills to manage and engineer various data forms, to make predictive analyses, derive actionable insights and develop intelligent hardware and software systems and related cutting-edge AI technologies.

Masters of Science in Applied Data Intelligence
The MS in Applied Data Intelligence prepares students to excel in an AI-driven world by combining the latest advancements in AI with real-world applications. The program focuses on AI-powered data intelligence, decision-making, and solving complex challenges. Students from multidisciplinary fields gain hands-on experience with generative and agent-based AI models, applying these solutions to industry-driven projects

Masters of Science in Bioinformatics
The Master of Science in Bioinformatics at San José State University features an interdisciplinary curriculum in bioinformatics, biology, computer science and mathematics. Questions in many areas of biology, including genomics, molecular biology, neuroscience, physiology, microbiology, ecology and evolution, must now be answered using mathematical and computational methods. New techniques allow the acquisition of many thousands or millions of biological measurements, and the field of bioinformatics has developed to address this need.

Masters of Science in Computational Linguistics
Computational linguistics, a subfield of artificial intelligence, involves the analysis of languages and linguistic phenomena, as well as the production of language, by way of computer-based models. Computational linguistics can be used to investigate written texts, naturally spoken conversation, or pronunciation; it can also devise programs that synthesize speech. A few of the areas that computational linguists work on include speech recognition, machine translation, natural language processing, dictionary development and speech synthesis.

Masters of Science in Computer Engineering
The MS in Computer Engineering (CMPE) program provides students with an educational experience that combines electrical engineering and computer science with the best of academia, the best of academia and Silicon Valley. The high-tech industry increasingly requires engineers to be equipped with both hardware and software development knowledge and skills. The program provides in-class theory with hands-on hardware design and software development exercises to give students the skills necessary to create contemporary microelectronic products containing both hardware and software.

Masters of Science in Computer Science
The Masters of Science program gives students the opportunity to further their knowledge in foundational and applied topics, preparing them for advanced industrial or research positions. Students are expected to complete six graduate level courses, two electives and two semesters of project work. Full-time students generally take two years to complete the program. The program is available to students with a bachelor's degree in computer science or a related discipline. In order to ensure small class sizes and individual supervision of projects, the size of the program is limited and applications are competitive.

Masters of Science in Data Science
The Masters of Science in Data Science program is offered by the College of Science’s Department of Computer Science and Department of Mathematics and Statistics.
This degree is designed for students with an undergraduate degree in the sciences or engineering, and it provides both mathematical and algorithmic foundational knowledge and practical programming skills for data science careers.

Masters of Science in Software Engineering
The MSSE program, offered by the Department of Computer Engineering, provides students with an educational experience that builds on traditional computer science and engineering and takes an integrative approach to software engineering. The program offers specializations in enterprise software technologies, cloud computing and virtualization, software systems engineering, data science, cybersecurity and networking software.

Masters of Science in Statistics with a Specialization in Machine Learning
The Department of Mathematics and Statistics offers a MS in Statistics with a specialization in machine learning. Machine learning is a subset application of artificial intelligence (AI) that provides systems the ability to automatically learn and improve from experience without being explicitly programmed.
